Parents are not good at English, but will they be okay?
Each class is taught by a native English-speaking teacher paired with a Japanese teacher, so students are able to communicate with their homeroom teachers in Japanese. We also use an application in English and Japanese as a communication tool.
However, we believe that parents’ positive attitude toward English has a great impact on their children’s English acquisition, so we encourage parents to actively communicate with homeroom teachers, even if it is just a list of words in English.
What kinds of events do parents participate in?
The last day of the first semester is the parent-child Sports Day, the last day of the second semester is the Holiday Concert (music recital), and the last day of the third semester is the drama recital and graduation ceremony. There are also parent-child field trips each term. Events held on Sundays and holidays include the KIS Festival in September and the Nursery Visits in October. Parental participation is not required for any of these events, but we hope that you will be able to enjoy your child’s development and achievements with us.
Do you have any problems when you move on to elementary school in Japan?
At KIS, we encourage our students to read many Japanese picture books at home and to converse with their families in correct Japanese. We also focus on gaining independence and problem-solving skills in daily life, so we believe that our students will be able to enter elementary school without any problems. In addition, KIS children experience the joy of learning because they learn through play and experiences that stimulate their curiosity, rather than through tedious repetitive practice. This experience leads to a desire to learn after entering elementary school.
I have a full time job and need early morning extended care. How many children use the service?
Regular childcare in each class is from 9:00 to 2:00, but from 8:30 to 5:00, one of the homeroom teachers takes care of children in extended care, so children who need extended care can stay in a stable environment.
What are school holidays?
These are weekdays when school is not in session. For example, these are substitute days for Sports Day, summer vacation, winter vacation, and spring vacation. Obon and New Year holidays follow the annual schedule.
Is there Saturday childcare available?
No, we do not offer Saturday childcare. If you wish to have childcare on Saturdays, please join KEC Saturday Class. (Monthly fee will be charged separately).

Please pay the difference of 19,800 yen minus 11,000 yen.
Do sibling applications get priority?
Priority will be given to siblings as much as possible.
Is there a pick-up service for older students as well?
Children who attend Nagakute Elementary School will be picked up by staff members. Children who attend Nagakute Kita Elementary School will also be picked up by staff members until they become familiar with the route to school. Once it is confirmed that they can return to KEA safely, older children will be asked to return on their own.
Does childcare on school days only start at 2:00 p.m.?
The KEA school day begins when children finish their regualr school day. During April, first grade students finish their regular school day earlier as they do not have lunch at school yet, so they will begin their KEA school day at that time.
