KIS, 2019-2020

Teaching at KIS was probably one the most formative experiences that I have had in my teaching career. I learned more about Early Childhood Education, hands-on learning and fostering student independence from teaching two homeroom classes at KIS than I did through most of my formally university training. If you are looking to develop your skills as a teacher/educator, belong to a community of passionate learners and have fun exploring the rich and deep culture of Japan, then look no further than KIS.

Although teaching the 5 Year class at KIS was a lot of hard work, the reward of seeing how children thrived in such a wonderful environment was much greater. The children at KIS were able to grow and develop because of the positive influence and loving environment that teachers and staff members at the school purposefully created. The number of events, activities and school-wide initiatives undertaken by staff at KIS was beyond anything that I had experienced both at home or abroad, and this created a sense of immense connectedness with the local community and diverse international communities as well. From a community bazaar to a graduation trip in Osaka, KIDS International school provided diverse learning opportunities for children, teachers and support staff to develop and grow, all the while viewing learning and professional development through the lens of having fun. KIS is not only a school, but a close-knit learning community that strives to build relationships through the medium of high-quality childcare and intensive support for young learners AND their families.

I was honored to be a part of the KIDS International School community and I am sure that anyone who has had the experience of being a member of the KIS community would feel the exact same way. If you are debating joining the KIDS International School team, I would recommend jumping at the opportunity because you will forge lasting relationships, develop yourself professionally and walk away from the experience a much stronger teacher. I for sure know that I did!
