KEC Parents’ Voice : Intensive Class

Intensive Classes (Intensive English Classes)

After graduating from an international preschool, I had fewer opportunities to use English, but when he entered an intensive class, his English switch was turned on and I was relieved to see that his listening and speaking skills were alive and well. Conversely, as the children get older, I can see their reading and writing skills improve. In the open class, we were able to see the children continue to learn the good points of their KIS days, where they learned various things while playing and having fun with content appropriate for their current age. The instructor would sometimes remind the students to focus on the lesson, making the lesson fun and yet well rounded. I would like to let them participate in various events in the future.

After graduating from KIS, we decided to enroll our daughter in the Intensive program because we wanted her to make use of the English she had learned and to learn English from the basics in a familiar environment. The lessons are fun and enjoyable, and my daughter actively participates in the lessons and feels that her English skills are improving. The class is taught by a native English-speaking teacher and a Japanese teacher, and they are very attentive to my daughter’s needs and motivate her. She also enjoys writing her picture diary for her teacher to check. I hope that she will continue to experience the fun of coming into contact with English while improving her English skills.

After graduating from KIS, I considered other English conversation schools, but I chose KEC because the classes are only for KIS graduates, so we started at the same level, and I felt comfortable with the environment and support. I could not really feel the growth of my English for the first year, but in the second year, I could visibly see what I had developed over the year, and I felt that the teachers had done a good job of organizing things in order. I was also able to participate in a speech contest and experience the fun, importance, and sense of accomplishment of using English in front of others. I am looking forward to seeing their growth in the future.

I have been attending this school because I want my child to have the academic ability to communicate in English in order to have more options for his future. I am very grateful for the enthusiastic guidance of the foreign and Japanese teachers along with my child. We continue to read aloud from CDs and books with fun stories every week, and we feel that our ears and pronunciation are getting better and better. I would like to participate in the seasonal events and give my child the opportunity to communicate with teachers from other countries and experience the fun of interacting with them.

After three years of living in the U.S., I wanted to maintain the English skills I had acquired there, so I attended an open class at KEC. He was warmly welcomed by his classmates and teachers, and he enjoyed the classes so much that he decided to attend KEC after visiting other schools. I am satisfied with the content of the classes and the attentive follow-up by the teachers. The contest gave him a chance to challenge himself in presenting in front of others, which is something he is not good at, and it seems to have boosted his confidence. I hope that she will continue to enjoy learning English through many more experiences.

Last spring, I was worried about whether my child was getting a good understanding of the class. The instructor would inform us 10 minutes before the end of class about the content of the lesson and assignments for the next week, which helped us understand the progress of the class. The foreign instructor made the class very enjoyable, and the Japanese instructor carefully guided us on the parts we didn’t understand. When I still felt that I was falling behind, there were individual assignments and responses, and I remember feeling relieved because of the content that was close to my child. I would like to continue to provide an environment where my child can read, write, speak, and learn English with interest.

I was worried that the contents of the textbooks and the vocabulary used in the fourth grade classes were becoming much more difficult. I was worried that the content of the textbooks and the vocabulary used in them were becoming more difficult. My homeroom teacher told me that she had created a Power Word Notebook as part of the “Power World Project. Let’s get used to reading the dictionary little by little,” she said. I was happy to see her happily looking up and writing in the notebook that was handed to her, and as a parent, I felt that she was making another growth through English. As a parent, I am happy to see that they are growing through English. I would like to learn how to use not only an English-Japanese dictionary but also an English-English dictionary, so that I can change difficult words into easy-to-understand ones and further expand my English world.

After graduating from KIS, I went to a public elementary school and chose the Intensive class to maintain my English skills in a Japanese-only environment. I have enjoyed attending the class every week for five years now. I am grateful that I have been able to improve my English enough to pass the EIKEN level 2 test. I am very grateful that I have been able to improve my English so much that I am now able to pass the EIKEN level 2 test. I am also satisfied with the program because it is not only about improving my English skills, but also about gaining a lot of experience through speech contests and other opportunities to make presentations and volunteer activities.

In addition to the fact that my child enjoyed the trial class, the two hours of class and the opportunity to give a speech were deciding factors in my decision to enroll. My child happily talked about the classes on the way home, and seeing how the teachers always naturally involve the students in the open class, I feel that my child is having fun while being exposed to English. I also think that the bus tours, summer day school, and speech contests that we have participated in have provided a lot of good tension and stimulation.

Saturday Class Elementary (Advanced)

After attending KIS for three years, I decided that it would be best for me to continue learning English in an environment that I was familiar with, so I enrolled. Although I entered an elementary school in Nui that focused on English education, I had few opportunities to spend many hours exclusively in English, and the school has been very helpful in filling in the gaps in my school education. The Saturday class, like KIS, is designed to help students learn English in a more natural way. There are many events and the students seem to enjoy attending. Also, the homework is very well supervised, and my son’s writing skills have improved a lot thanks to the English diary. My son, who could not even write lowercase letters properly, has grown to be able to write English sentences on his own in about six months. He has also challenged himself to take the Eiken test and loves English more and more, so I am looking forward to seeing his future growth.

I have been sending my children to the school because I am attracted to the fact that they think, try, reflect, and present by themselves through various theme activities in English. At the school, they are able to broaden their perspectives through the different ideas of their friends, and they are stimulated and motivated by the feedback (mainly praise) they receive from their teachers. The teaching materials are also excellent, and I am especially grateful for the writing classes, as they help students develop logical writing skills that are difficult to develop at elementary schools in Japan. In addition to classes, there are various events where English is used, and the presentation contest gave me the experience of giving a presentation on a big stage. I am grateful to see their faces full of a sense of accomplishment after they were nervous and overcame the difficulties. I believe that this school is a place for comprehensive learning, not only for improving English skills, of course, but also for other purposes.

We returned from the UK before entering elementary school and started online English conversation classes. However, she found the lessons monotonous and boring, so she decided to take a Saturday class, which is similar to a local school. Although she is not good at public speaking, she was given a chance to participate in a presentation contest, and it was a great experience for her to practice daily for the day and to be on stage. I am very grateful for the guidance of the teachers who assessed my daughter’s personality and English level. I hope she will continue to expand her world through English.

I returned from the U.S. when I was 6 years old, and KEC was the closest environment to a local school. I find it very appealing to be able to experience real-life English not only through study but also through cooking, field trips, and other activities. The teachers have a great attitude of having fun together with us, and sometimes they are strict with us, which makes the class atmosphere very lively and enjoyable. My child looks forward to the class every week. The presentation contest was a great experience for my child, as we practiced together as parent and child, and it helped him gain confidence. It is difficult to maintain and improve English skills in a Japanese environment, but I hope that my child will continue to learn English through KEC.
